The Mission

The goal of the summit is to bridge the gap about the African music market and showcase the African diaspora in Finland to both local and international audiences.The mission of the event is to unite music, culture, and dialogue in a safe, expert gathering based on a value-driven approach. Community engagement is central, aiming to leave visitors with the understanding that the vast African economy is large, growing, and within reach. The program includes panel discussions, roundtable discussions, a tailored book club, showcase performances by artists and international DJ’s.

Since joining YouTube in 2019, Sheniece Charway (Head Of Black Music & Culture, EMEA (YouTube & YouTube Music) has played a seminal role in the growth of Black talent both on and off the platform. In addition to working on events such as Skepta’s Live Q&A, GRM Daily Discography with Ghetts & Wretch 32, a Stefflon Don Fan Event, Aitch’s EP launch party, Michael Brun’s Album launch party and Tiwa Savage’s single launch party, Sheniece is actively involved in tackling anti-Black racism and championing Black talent within the music industry.

Christel Kayibi currently is the Director Repertoire Strategy, Africa in Sony’s Continental Europe and Africa team. Based in London, Christel works alongside teams in South, East and West Africa, as well as French Speaking Africa, developing Sony’s rosters and network, identifying catalogue, label and other investment opportunities and driving Sony’s entry into new markets across the continent as well as working with the regional and local Africa teams to assist with the signing of artists in partnership with Sony Music labels worldwide.

She currently works across PR and Marketing where she focuses on social strategy, events, and digital campaigns, representing some of Norway’s biggest artists such as girl in red, Peder Elias, Kamelen, Tyr, as well as globally renowned artists such as Beyoncé, Harry Styles, Tyla, Davido, Tems and many more.

Prior to founding her own legal consultancy in 2024, Rasheka was Head of IP in a Finnish law firm. Her focus in the music industry is on business strategies and legal frameworks that allow artists and music companies to better leverage talent across all platforms. Scott & Co. delivers on-demand legal expertise affordably. Rasheka sits on the Board of UNICEF Finland. Rasheka’s personal mission is to find an innovative rights management structure for the Jamaican entertainment industry.

Recognized as part of the Nordic Music Biz Top 20 Under 30 and awarded Manager of the Year in 2023, Lilli is a prominent figure in the Finnish entertainment industry.

Melina Korvenkontio is the leader and CEO of Marmori Entertainment. A passionate creative and seasoned professional in the music industry, Melina began her career in Operations and HR before transitioning into music in 2015 working as the Producer Manager & Publisher at The Fried Music & Nordic Music Partners.

She earned a BA in International Music Management in Amsterdam and is now a dedicated mother and advocate for empowering the diaspora and fostering positive change.

Adeola Ikuesan

Adeola Ikuesan is a Finnish-Nigerian singer and songwriter based in Helsinki, performing under the name Adeola. Her music blends Afro and indie influences, with themes of identity at the heart of her artistic journey. She has released two singles, “Hello World” and “Oceans,” from her upcoming debut EP, set to release toward the end of 2024. Alongside her music career, Adeola works in tech and is constantly driven by a curiosity to learn and innovate.

An 18-year-old Finnish-Swedish artist who dropped their debut single on August 30th, already amassing nearly 40,000 streams. A rising star in Finnish rap, they’ve performed three shows, two of them even before releasing any music. The artist has also been featured in the news multiple times.

Mushraff ”Mush” Yusuf Mansaray (Yeshraff) born and raised in Freetown-Sierra Leone on 05/01/02 is an artist currently based in Finland-Helsinki. Not having been stagnant in one culture for too long, he has been able to keep and adapt the different languages and perspectives of lifestyle and music. He left Sierra Leone at the age of 11 years old due to the Ebola outbreak and moved to Ghana to study both high school and secondary school in Accra for 4 years.The following year, he moved with his family to Spain-Barcelona and studied and worked for another 4 years. He has proceeded to dive really deep into Music from every genre -, jazz , trap,rap, rock, flamenco, blues, Afro , RnB and so many more.

Music is not only a passion for him, but also a very intricate way of expressing himself to himself and the rest of the world. His long life story filled with very mystical moments and pain is to be depicted creatively in his artwork and presence . A true artist.

PURPLAPE

Purplape is an artist with Caribbean roots and an exceptionally distinctive voice.

His music combines elements of trap, dancehall, and various Caribbean musical styles, creating a distinctive, unique, and catchy sound. An excellent example is the song “Reckless,” which has surpassed platinum status and is in the top 4 on Spotify.

Purplape’s superpower is his interpretive skills. Even if a word might be unclear, he still manages to capture people’s ears and minds with his melodies and lyrics.
